Most of you know I work at The NASA Glenn Research Center. One of our facilities is a 6400 acre area about an hour west of Cleveland where we do large scale testing too noisy or hazardous to perform on the main campus (which is 400 acres adjacent to Cleveland Hopkins Airport). Plum Brook Station, as the larger area is called, is a former WWII munitions factory and was situated in a remote area for obvious reasons. Except for a handful of massive test facilities sprinkled about, it's really a gigantic nature preserve. We have forests, wetlands, grasslands, and all manner of wildlife in large quantity. One thing we are very lucky to have are quite a number of American Bald Eagles.

One of our employees took these photos a few days ago. Though you might enjoy!

Thank you for sharing. I LOVE eagles!

I live on a large private utility company lake. In 1980, When Georgia Power Company developed our lake, the American Bald Eagle was an endangered species. Georgia Power took this into consideration and provided "habitats" the Bald Eagle.

The Bald Eagles, Egrets and Ospray have "made a home" here and are all thriving. The American Bald Eagle is a truly magnificant creature in flight and in hunting!

WALK TALL, Jeff!!!

:biggrin:If he mistakes you for a mouse, it will be painful!!!:biggrin:

An eagle swooped down and tried to take my Jack Russell when she was a puppy. The Eagle may "look" fearsome. but proved to be no match for a P/O'ed little female Jack (Her name is Jessie Jayne) and she is an outlaw.

Now, nearly seven years later, a big bird can be "flying over" a few thousand feet in the air and Jessie still goes ballistic. I'm trying to capture it on video.

Thanks for sharing Jeff. Beside penturning, one of my other hobbies is landscape/nature photography. Those photos make my mouth water.:)

What amazing beauty and power. Thank you for sharing. I love watching birds of prey. I have only seen a Bald Eagle in nature one time. Where I live we have lots of Red-Tailed Hawks, which are also very beautiful.

And to think that Benjamin Franklin wanted a turkey as the national bird over such a majestic creature. My favorite verse in the bible is isaiah 40:31 and eagles are in there for a reason

For those not lucky enough to see one up close and in person, it truly is a sight to behold. Thanks for the pictures. In northern Michigan, I was lucky enough to tee off right under a nest, plenty high up to be safe for them and us, but close enough to see one first hand. Majestic is a great descriptive.

Thanks for sharing. We've got eagles that fly around back over the pond. My youngest has seen one eagle snatch a fish. We've been seeing all kinds of wild life, painted turtles, red belly cooters, Blue tail skinks, Red Fox's, beaver's and a couple of egret's are nesting on the end of the pond. Never knew I'd see so much wild life in one place.

They are awesome birds. We had 3 nests in our county last year. Blessed to seen them about 4 times.

Wolftrat ... the way things are these days I don't think I would want to be caught eating our national symbol to find out if it does or does not taste like "chicken."

I for one do not feel that there is anything 'chicken' about the American Bald Eagle. Try catching one bare handed and you will definitely learn a thing or two about their strength and fierceness in battle. :usflag:

Beautiful pictures. I'm a big fan of Bald Eagles. I'm lucky enough to see them on a daily basis. Nice to see that they are becoming more common.

Well, Jeff those pictures are beautiful, but around where I live all you can see are those nasty looking vouchers, and i have come close to hit them with the car and they sure look ugly. but your lucky to see the pretty stuff, I don'think those birds like the hot weather in TX though, unless one of my state mate writes me here wrong.

Eagles

Check out the picture with my profile. Taken in my front yard here in Florida. Supposedly the only state with more Bald Eagles than Florida is Alaska. This is the bird

Do they really taste like chicken?

LOL, No more like spotted owl!

Beautiful Pics of a majestic bird. We used to have a family of Eagles living near the pond behind the house until the dam washed out they mooved away when the pond dried up. It was always a special moment watching the big male fly down the length of the pond in the evenings.
