Hi folks, I am thinking of subscribing to one of two pen mags but cannot decide which is best.[xx(]

Are they just full of adverts/ads or are they good reading?

My main focus would be looking at the shapes and accents to incorporate in my own "non-kit" pens, hopefully.

Any help from subscribers to either magazine would help me a great deal.

Both (Penworld and Stylus) are good. Both are heavily laden with ads but they have good pen articles. But, the ads are ads for pens with lots of pictures. If you just want to look at pen pictures for inspiration and ideas, then the internet is full of the same pens that are in the mags each month...plus vintage pens and you already have an internet connection. Surf for pen pictures online and save the $$$ for materials and tooling. Just my thoughts. Your bit shipped Saturday.

The first one I subscribed to was Pen World. It was nice, but didn't really have much "meat" to it. I now subscribe to Stylus and think it's better because it has a regular feature by Richard Binder about nibs for one thing.
 
I'm with Gerry on this. Pen World is beautiful, but Stylus has more content. Also, if you have any pen stores, get on their catalog mailing list. I get about one a month from Fahrney's in Washington, DC and it's always inspiring.
