Simply because it ALWAYS starts a fight or ends in hard feelings between members . We ALL have our beliefs (either politically or religiously) and not everyone here share these same ones .

Read the Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy for the IAP. This is a pen turning site. There are plenty of political discussion forums on the Internet for you to engage in political debate or post political opinions on. Those discussions usually get too heated. People come here to relax and talk about something they all enjoy and share in common. Turning, specifically turning pens .

I could not have said it any better. Butch, thank you!

I agree, this is a pen/wood turning site. Politics can be discussed elsewhere.

I like the rule too! I think it is much easier to get mad at the staff for not letting us talk politics than to get mad at each other over politics!:biggrin:

Plus, I am right and everyone else is wrong! ;P
Or said another way,

When I want your opinion, I'll give it to you!

The IAP hasn't lost anything of value by banning political or religious discussions.
There are plenty of other places on the 'net where it's permitted and appropriate.
We can all go there to fight it out!
