For anyone that has PM'd me (or missed me:biggrin:)...

My Grandmother, who I am quite close to, fell last Saturday and broke her hip. She was admitted to the hospital and surgery was planned for the following Sunday evening to replace the hip. One hour before surgery, a really smart Dr. saw something he did not like and ordered a CT scan. On the scan they found numerous pulmonary blood clots and were not able to do the surgery. They actually said she was fortunate to be alive or to at least not have had a stroke.

They ended up transferring her to a larger hospital in Austin where they have better high risk surgery facilities. They held off as long as they could to try to get the blood clots gone but ended up deciding that surgery had to be done regardless of the risk. She was given a 60% chance of making it through surgery. They ended up doing surgery Thursday evening and everything went well. She is now in the ICU and they are trying to clear up the clots before they can start working with rehab on the hip.

Between that and having my aunts and uncles in town and dealing with them and their fights...it has been a long week and I have not been able to check in here very much. Sorry about that, everyone!

Anyway, I spent most of the day at the hospital today and she is doing pretty well but still has a long ways to go. Thanks for your patience and please try to play nice while I am a little pre-occupied!

Geez, you sure didn't waste any time getting to work and deleting my posts ;)

Seriously, here's a "get well soon" for your Grandmother. It's strange how good things (finding the clots) sometimes come out of bad things, huh?

Cheers!

Gary

Curtis,
I'm glad to hear your Grandmother is improving and hope she makes a full recovery soon. Thank God they ordered the CT, sounds like she's a fighter... I suppose the apple didnt fall to far from the tree!

My thoughts & prayers are with you and your family, if there is anything I can do to help out please dont hesitate to ask.

Kind Regards,

Jim

Curtis,
Your grandmother and the rest of your family are in our prayers. If you need anything, please dont hesitate to ask.

Curtis,

So sorry to hear this. We will be praying for your grandma.

I am out of town this weekend but will be back late Sunday. If you need anything, please give me a holler.

That's OK Curtis. Family comes first. Hope your Grandmothers recovery goes well.

You can ignore my PM. I've decided that I can't afford what you're asking to change the birthday bash competition results anyway

Russell.

My most positive thoughts and energy go out to you and your family. I am glad that they found the clots on her CT. Hurrah for modern and technology that allowed this to be found. I hope her recovery is easy and that she is up and around soon.
Cindy

Curtis, I also want to tell you that I am sorry about your grandmother's problems. Stay close and express your love for her and I guarantee you that ll will be well. It really helps to know that folks care about you when you are hurt and in the hospital.

Now seems to be a good time for you to turn her a cane. She will need one after she gets up an around in a few weeks. Keep her spirits high and her attitude for recovery on a positive track.

Tell her we are all praying for her speedy recovery. :worship: :biggrin::biggrin:

Curtis

God speed to a good recovery for your Grandmother. Family is always first. I'm sure you have quite a lot of PMs and emails to wade through so take your time and concentrate on family. We'll still be here when everything is as back to normal as it can be.

Tyson

Curtis, You take care. I am sure others can hold down the fort here and that is an aweful lot of serious business you need to be tending to. Prayerrs for your grand mother. As for the relatives. just send them to the barn to stay with the other animals ;)

Curtis,
The hip replacement was routine, but finding the clots before they caused problems was golden.

My wife is 6 weeks into rehab from her hip replacement... doing great...

Grandma will be up and around before you know it.

We're keeping you and her in our thoughts.

Take care Curtis.. It sounds like you're family moderator too.... You must be good at it :)

Make sure to take care of yourself too... Family comes first and it can be tough to remember the basics when this type of stress is going on.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to your grandmother Curtis .

Don't worry about everyone will be on their best behaviour till you get back , RIGHT people ?

Take care of your family Curtis .
