I'm one of the guilty party - There were two of us who got the (week 3) wood id contest correct and I won the coin-toss. I PM'd Ed and asked if he could ship me one blank, and the other correct guesser (er, I mean educated diviner) the other.

Obviously, I didn't put a lot of thought into it, as the Bash Executive is busy enough without wieners like me adding to the load.

So, I'll do what I should have done all-along, and just send the other guy one of the blanks after they arrive. Of course, this means that I get to pick the prettiest one for myself... MWAHAhahahahahahhahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

So, Ken, to answer your question, some of us did it because we're stoopit and weren't thinkin' straight.

I would like to remind everyone that Andrew (Maxwell Smart007) did this last year, by himself!!! He got the prizes, he awarded the prizes and never so much as a whimper about the difficulties.

I, on the other hand, am not so selfless. Next year we will have a "team" of three people (hopefully all retired) awarding prizes and coordinating. So, when an email arrives, you will at least KNOW it's one of the ocntests YOU are in charge of. Right now, I get emails saying, "Who was I supposed to ship to???" Sounds simple enough. WHICH contest???? Each one that has been processed is in its' own file, so Dawn can follow up with the recipients. There are about 10 files, with up to 15 in each file.

So, I AM sorry that I am complaining - it's not, generally, in my nature and I WILL finish. I just continue to have more and more respect for Andrew. However, the "business manager" in me keeps redesigning the task for next year.

LOOK OUT all you retirees - I'll be lookin for you in 2010!!!!!

I WILL redesign this "job" and make it MUCH easier, next year.

THANKS!!

"Quit" is NOT in my vocabulary. And, I think Cav will not fire me, unless Jeff significantly enhances his budget. So, YES, I WILL BE HERE and NO, Andrew is NOT going to do the whole thing himself again.

We WILL make this easier. And I WILL, unless someone in management says otherwise, BE LEADING the REVAMP!!!
 
I'm probably the only person that knows exactly how much work Ed and Dawn are putting into the bash right now, and I can honestly say that I'm very proud of the work they're doing! :) It's a TON more work than it appears to be at first glance, and they're doing a terrific job! I bet they're both very glad that February is a short month, though! :biggrin:

My fiance is a much happier woman this year; she didn't see me much during the months of November to January while I was helping with the bash, so she sends her sincere thanks, Ed! Unfortunately, having all this extra time means that I've been having to help out with our wedding planning, so I'm still just as busy! :wink:

He and Dawn must be up to their eyebrows daily in the task, so I'd like to thank them again for taking on the job...in retrospect, I probably should have warned him a bit more vehemently about how much work it actually is! :biggrin:

Nonsense. If you were being paid to do a "job" we would have the right to certain expectations.

I think, though, that I speak for every mother-loving one of us when I say "Thank you, sincerely and from the bottom of our hearts, for what you are doing."

Dear Mr. Madore,

I have searched and researched and cannot find any blanks donated by a Satan, Devil, Mr. Evil or Prince of Darkness.

Can you be more specific as to the SOURCE of the alleged blanks you allegedly feel you should receive???

Perhaps you would like to take a small trip to visit the above-mentioned possible donors and speak with him/them directly.???

Do let me know how that turns out for you, won't you????

No problem Ed, just send ALL the prizes to me, and I will store them in my shop, near my lathe, until I can turn them round, um, I mean until I can turn them around to the winners.

I HAVE CONSIDERED this technique, albeit, MY workshop was the delivery point; however, staying on the theme I have set, I fear there would be significant "weeping and gnashing of teeth" by the Alleged winners who might be aware of their deprivations.

WOOD be EASIER tho!!

Gary, I apologize, I misinterpreted Cav's meaning about people requesting their prize go to some on else. I guess my med were doing a better job than I thought, that and Cav wasn't wearing his dress pinks when he made that post, is that right or is it he should have been wearing a pink dress?? any way now I understand, and think you're doing a darned nice thing, I apologize.

No, no, NO: No apology necessary!

And I, in turn, apologize if my post came across that way. I am having a ball and love the world and everybody in it.

I truly meant it when I said that I wasn't thinking straight when I asked Ed to do what amounts to doubling the amount of shipping on my behalf.

All is well, and nobody needs to apologize here. Er, except me. I think :)

I JUST realized that I was barking up the wrong tree, as it were, when I sent the message to Ed in the first place: It it actually Cav who is ditributing the blanks from the Blank ID contest, which are the winnings/blanks/whatever that I have been babbling about (and that Ed denied knowledge of, and I thought that he was doing a pretty good job keeping a poker face about, etc., etc.) ....

As Bugs Bunny would say, what a maroon!

OK, everyone please forget that I have ever typed anything. Anything at all. Ever. On IAP. Ever.
