Baseball themed pen

I have a request from a coworker that would like a pen made from Ash as he is a huge baseball fan. I have never worked with Ash nor have I seen anything with a baseball theme. So if there are any ideas out there, I would greatly appreciate them.

I would consider making a miniature bat. Use a slimline and make the top end a closed end. Ash shouldn't be too hard to find at a woodcraft or rockler. Obviously it turns pretty well given that is what most bats are made from.

I make and sell bats, they are all requesting maple now. A closed end pen that looks like a bat has always sold well. I have some retired bats if you would like some, I could cut off a piece.

Check out this option found in the archives. I think it is the closest I've seen to a real baseball bat pen!

They use both, but there is a movement to outlaw maple bats because they shatter more easily.
