I had the good fortune to attend the AAW Symposium this weekend. I had the chance to sit in on Barry Gross' demo on casting. He made it sound fun and straight forward. He encouraged everyone to experiment and accept failures as design opportunities.

I was very excited to see many of his pens in person. They looked great with excellent fit and finish. I even saw the "watch pen". It looked amazing.

He spoke highly of Ken at Kallenshaan Woods. Apparently Ken laser engraves Barry's signature on his pens.

Barry's demo was entertaining and educational.

I was there also. Barry did an excellent job with his demos. In addition to the casting demo, Barry also did a demo on segmented pens from exotic woods. Friday night's special interest penturning meeting was also excellent. Barry, Anthony Turchetta, and I sat on a pannel and fielded questions about most all areas of pentuirning. The room was full and I would estimate the attendance was over 50. It was a great time and the symposium was well worth attending.
Do a good turn daily!

That panel alone would have been worth a trip to New Mexico - lots of pen smarts in those three fellas. I hope that there was a video made.:)
