I found an old box up in the attic with some keepsakes in it. Among the items was an 8" piece of trunk from our very first Christmas tree (1970). My wife doesn't know that I found it .... nor does she remember that we even kept it.

I'm thinking of making a bandsaw box from the trunk and giving it to my wife for a Christmas present. I seem to remember seeing a picture of a bandsaw box from a Christmas tree that somebody made. Does anybody remember seeing that picture somewhere? I'm thinking that I saw it in an IAP member's website. Does this sound familiar to anyone?????

As I read the post I'm thinking it will be interesting to see what someone else did. Then I see that it was me!!!!!! I've taken that box to my class on bandsaws at Woodcraft about 4 or 5 times. Always brings a smile. I've got a couple of boxes I cut from some bushes I tore out from the front of the house. Then there is the small goblet I turned from the root that was clogging my sewer (I used a section from outside the pipe of course). Never know where you can find wood with a story. Emphasis on "find".

That is a great idea. I always wanted to take a piece from each Christmas tree and make an ornament out of it, put the year on it some where or maybe a little write up about that Christmas and put inside. I never did it of coarse, but I thought about it.
