My band saw blade will not stay on, as soon as I turn it on or right after I stop cutting it will come off. Not sure if I need new tires or a new blade. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

Blade, ok ...what type of saw? the small 3 wheels or a larger one? Have you adjusted the tracking (is it adjustable?)

My Ridgid 14" started doing that a while back and watching it with the doors open I realized the tires were raising up following the blade leaving the tire edge. Took the tires off cleaned the wheels and put some rubber cement on the wheels and put the tires back on. Has been fine every since.

If you have the manual for the saw, it will tell you how to properly set up and adjust your particular machine.

The tracking adjustment tilts the top wheel in relation to the bottom wheel. There should be a knob behind the upper wheel that controls this tilt. Make sure the blade is properly tensioned, then turn the upper wheel by hand (please make sure the saw is UNPLUGGED) while adjusting the tracking knob. You should see the blade move one direction or the other on the tire. You want the blade to run close to the center of the tire.

If you still have trouble, try another blade. Beyond that, you may have to check that the wheels are coplanar (lined up with each other).

Boy there is many things to check when setting up any tool and to tell exactly what is needed is not an easy thing to do. If you are going to check the tracking of the blade make sure the blade guides are out of the way. You don't want the blade touching the thrust bearing on top or bottom guide along with touching the blocks on the sides. Once you figure out if the tracking is ok then set your guides up. Really need to read the manual it will help alot. Good luck. Delta-- 12" it is a bench top, 14" it is a floor model.

Double check the size of your blade, just because it was marked one size that doesn't mean that it is the size needed.
