To say I am impressed with my Bambu X1 Carbon is an understatement indeed. Nothing is perfect, but these guys are getting close.

Note to new user: don't try a long UNATTENDED print until you know more about bed adhesion and collecting Bambu poop. One of the prints with four colors was a 22 hour print.

Those are so much fun! How do you decide what to charge for something that took 22 hours to print? I haven't been willing to do that long of a print yet.

They are great! I had one and got tired of waiting for the print to finish so I could sample print the next design so I bought a second. Sometimes id love to have a third but I think I just need to be more patient. Lol. You sure can get a lot of work done while you're sleeping. 😁

they are fun I am up to 6 of them 2 -x1, 3 -a1 and 1 p1s. If you haven't look at upgrading the bed plate I would look at the sliceworx they don't let go. Waiting on a couple biqu plates to compare them both.

Just took this hobby up also. Bought an Ender 3 V2 Neo for just over $100 new. Added an octoprint rpi with octolapse. I get sort of crappy videos, sometime they look nice, but not like you posted. Just finished a 9 hour print of my first gridfinity base. I have also considered a 2nd one. I want a bigger bed.

I still use my creality cr-10. My longest print was this skull mask about 4 yrs ago. It's 12" tall and 8" wide. It took 40 hrs to complete.

I've had my Creality Ender-5 Pro for maybe 3 years now, added the glass bed, auto leveling, Logitech Webcam and a Raspberry Pi running OctoPrint to manage it. It is okay. I don't have adhesion issues, but because it isn't enclosed so I get corners lifting sometimes. Also, it is S L O W compared to more current machines.

I was very close to purchasing a new Bambu Labs machine but about 3-4 weeks ago there was a bunch of noise online about how the company is severely restricting the use of the certain software/firmware. Is this true? Do you all that have them have any insight and/or experience with this?

Thanks!

My understanding is, as long as you are using their stuff you are fine. Its is using 3rd party stuff that can connect to the printer and control it.

My understanding is that they are trying to prevent someone from accessing your printer through the 3rd party software. like Orca slicer and Panda Touch and some others. But you can turn lan mode on and you still can use everything else, but think it will restricted what you can do. I haven't seen a need to really use other stuff but orca slicer is nice backup to the bambu slicer.

There is a work around for orca slicer its an additional step. But not sure how it works. I havent upgraded to the newest firmware.

I built an enclosure for mine. It has opening front and rear doors and a sliding side door for cable and running filament. Helps a lot with maintaining heat.

I like how you did that! I have considered building an enclosure for mine, but I am still envious of the speed and print quality of the Bambu Labs machines.

The cost for the three items printed that took 22 hrs was $7.50 in materials. As John said patience is needed. IF the item late print successfully I'm happy. Those creatures will be offered at $15-$20 and with four colors - they should be rare in my area.

Each day I get the three printers working and go back to pen turning or cutting board creation. I check often as the things can go far off the rails at times.

I think right now that the 3D machines both amaze and excite me intellectually.

Note - buy Bambu and if possible buy the X1 Carbon. Be amazed!!!

It is noise not important if you just use it without a 20-50 machine print farm. I'm happy and have done all the upgrades. Happy with my two Prusas too.

Three hex shaped fidget objects. Every time I hand one of these to anyone they play with it non stop and want it. Two hours roughly per machine. Cost is $1.48 per and will sell for $15 probably. I fully expect to pay for all of the filament spools shown in the last photo at the first big show this year!
