Well, we made it back in relatively good health. I wasn't able to purchase any wood while I was there, as it was a 3 hour drive, each way, but I did find a cut-up tree for a nice pic. It appears to be some sort of padauk, as it's turning purplish in the sun. It was so hot down there and the humidity fogged up my glasses every time I left the hotel room.

I got some perspective while I was down there and I'm going to put more focus on my turning, than selling blanks. I'm still open for orders, but I probably won't be posting too many specials. The seller's forum is overcrowded anyway.

Well, here are a couple of pics of my trip.

I did pick up a piece of curly red cedar for a commemorative pen. That's all I could find. It came from a cedar furniture maker, who wouldn't take any money for it. Awesome people down there, but it was sooooooo sweaty.

It is good to be back though. I had to glue up a cigar pen, who's nib end was super loose. It's my first repair. Is this normal? I may have gouged it out too much, when I cleaned out some excess CA.

Rob,
This is NOT the time of year to go anywhere near the equator, you're supposed to go in January.[:D] But, we went to Bonaire in August 2 years in a row. I couldn't believe how hot it was there the first time, but last year it was a bit cooler. Glad there weren't any drug gang wars while you were there and that you made it back safely.

Thanks Jim and Gerry,
That was my best fishing trip in years, maybe ever. We stayed for "free", with extra points from our time share in Hawaii. We're going there next year (to Hawaii). The cops there had automatic weapons and were all over. It's supposed to be the President's idea to keep the tourists safe. We tried to get some place in the Caribbean, but this place in Acapulco was the only one open. I guess it was because it's so hot in June there.

Jim, John and Dario,
Thanks, it was fun. I felt a little like the witch on the wizard of oz, as I was always "MELTING".[:D][8D]

I see, Dario, that you're selling again, bravo!
