Well, we made it back in relatively good health. I wasn't able to purchase any wood while I was there, as it was a 3 hour drive, each way, but I did find a cut-up tree for a nice pic. It appears to be some sort of padauk, as it's turning purplish in the sun. It was so hot down there and the humidity fogged up my glasses every time I left the hotel room.
I got some perspective while I was down there and I'm going to put more focus on my turning, than selling blanks. I'm still open for orders, but I probably won't be posting too many specials. The seller's forum is overcrowded anyway.
Well, here are a couple of pics of my trip.
Wood
Some Bonito (crappy, oily fish in the tuna family) we caught
Acapulco Sunset
All of the furniture and cabinets appeared to be Honduras Mahogany - Simply Gorgeous!
I did pick up a piece of curly red cedar for a commemorative pen. That's all I could find. It came from a cedar furniture maker, who wouldn't take any money for it. Awesome people down there, but it was sooooooo sweaty.
It is good to be back though. I had to glue up a cigar pen, who's nib end was super loose. It's my first repair. Is this normal? I may have gouged it out too much, when I cleaned out some excess CA.
