I am slowly getting settled in London and looking for work. After 30years away it's very strange to be back! Once I have some money coming in I will start rebuilding my turning machines; a lathe will be the 1st priority. I had to sell my lathes, yes, the Stubby as well, wet sharpener, bandsaw...well, everything that needed plugging in was sold. I couldn't use it here and also had to finance my move. In the meantime I will be back on the board on a regular basis. I have been popping in for a read every now and again over the last year but it's not the same as a regular presence.

I am amazed at the penmaking progress of some of the folks who were just starting as I left. There is some fabulous work going on.

Glad to be back.

Ruth

Welcome Back ruth, you have been missed. hope you find somethign soon to spin some wood with. let us know if we can help out with getting up and running again. and you are always welcome even if you don't have a lathe. I know you have been busy but you still need so time to relax as well.

My first wife's grandmother was first born in Italy and migrated to USA as a teenager with her family....she would get upset if you mentioned an accent ... she would say

"I donta gotta no accenta - munga munga "

Welcome to the UK Ruth, I hope you find a job and start to build up the workshop equipment soon, if you need the names of suppliers etc.., just shout!

Welcome back Ruth . I think I would be one of the turners you speek of . I have missed reading your posts . I hope you find work , and get organized to get back here on the forum on a regular basis . Best wishes for you in the UK .

Welcome back. I hope that life is settling in easily and that you and your family are doing well. It is easy to ship blanks to England. Let us know when you have a lathe and I would be happy to share blanks with you. Isn't that what pen turners are all about? Stay warm and dry in foggy England.

wow! what a welcome!! It brings tears to my eyes.......it's so easy to feel insignificant and invisible to the world...............

thank you SO much everyone!

Glad things went well on the move -- and they do get Stubbys to England --

And you are in the company of some fine turners there!!! Look forward to seeing your future contributions.

Welcome to the UK Ruth, I hope you enjoy it here. Where abouts in London are you? I have to work in London a lot, but don't really like big cities.

After all the years away I had forgotten how cold it is. Even 2 pairs of socks and 2 layers isn't keeping me warm. I am in Stratford, home of the 2012 Olympics for now. I would like to move somewhere much more rural than this! But first the job.

Welcome back Ruth, glad you made the journey safely, I hope you find a job soon, I also hope you get your equipment replaced quickly as well.
