I have one similar. I bought it at the University salvage sale. It works quite well, but frankly I rarely use it. Too much hassle vs just stirring. It do prefer it when mixing powdercoat paint in my PR for color...that stuff is terrible to mix by hand.

If you are serious, you can find these for less. The price seems really high.

Thanks Steve. I have seen single battery operated ones for $45. I am sure you are right relative to their utility. Thanks for reading.

It's a nice idea, but you mentioned a major shortcoming in there is no side scraping. Frankly, the stirring never has bothered me. It's the waiting that's my issue, and that doesn't change with this.

Good point!
I may get a cheap one, and try it out. I do stir in the dye thoroughly before adding the catalyst. I wouldn't mind letting the catalyst do its thing for 10 or 15 mins (stirring) while I do something else other than stand over the cups and check the viscosity. I am usually wearing an MSA mask the whole time too; I get headaches for days after breathing that stuff (I am already prone to headaches). Thanks for the input!

Or you could buy two single ones for $150. I would pour your PR in the glass, mix in your color or powder, let stir until well mixed, pull out the magnet, add the catalyst, and finish stirring by hand. Seems like a money to miss out on a little exercise !! Jim S

While pouring Poly Resin things can happen pretty fast. If your not ready to pour when it starts happening you end up with a glob of resin rather than a successful pour. Seems to me that this would be a waste of money to purchase and a waste of resin to use.
If you want to mix and pour more quickly use alumilite.

Wow. I searched last night for about a half hour. I love it.

Thanks for searching.

Just got off the phone with the engineer. He is sending me the polyprop cups to see if they will melt using the poly resin. The melting point for polyprop is 200 F.

He also has a 3 ounce size that is not on his website.

If this works, I asked him about a group buy for 100. He said that he would do that at a substantial discount. We will see.

Thank you Dale. I swore off casting Alumilite despite the success that others have with it.

I did witness the blob "syndrome". My friend added too much catalyst and waited too long when casting PR.

Thanks again!

I have actually used this mixer before and it worked quite well at limiting air bubbles in the epoxy used for some R&D work I did. It was amazingly good even though the mechanism felt a little cheap. It doesn't scrape the wall but the eddys it creates sure help a lot. Hope it works for you.

Thanks for sharing your experience. For $60, I would take a take a chance. For $95, I want to make sure it works with PR.
