The August meeting will be held on August 4th at Woodworld TX.

The meeting will start at 9:00 AM and run until they chase us all out.

I have been in and out of the hospital several times in the last 2 months so I haven't been able to stay on top of the meeting info. Getting it out in a timely manner. I will be sending emails in the next day or 2 informing those who left an email about the meeting.

Any comments on demos and such please post them here and we will see what we can come up with.

Also bring a prime blank for the blank exchange.

Dang, twice in one year!

Count me in as long as it is not SWAT weekend. Speaking of Pens though Who will be there this weekend for the " Freedom Pen turn-A-thon"?

im gonna try to make it this time. I will not be there till 2 or so as i have to work sat mornings

Any volunteers or ideas for demos?

Helloooooooooooooooooo

I nominate Roger to demonstrate drilling, casting and/or turning gator jawbone. I am sure most of us have not tried it.

I would also be interested in seeing a quick demo of gluing up a graphite tube.

Maybe others planning to attend could respond with what they would like to learn. We have such a talented group of turners that there is probably someone that could demonstrate that to us newbies.

How about a hands-on class? If someone has enough snake skin -

  1. we each bring a set of tubes we want to cast
  2. we pay an appropriate amount for the snake skin
  3. snake charmer demonstrates the technique
  4. we build our tubes
  5. Roger pressure casts them for $4-$5 demonstrating his technique
  6. we all go home with a cool custom blank to turn!

I'm definitely attending this meeting. I wish I had known about the last one in time and could kick myself for missing it.

I'll volunteer to bring donuts and if Roger isn't available I can also bring a couple of gator blanks and maybe another surprise.

Tom

I can do a demo if that is what everyone wants to do. The way I do my jawbone is different from tkbarron. He cast his in aluminite and I do not. The way I do them is not for the beginner. It takes time and patience.

The trouble about a hands on class with snakeskin is that you have to let the glue degas overnight.

We can talk about kitless if that is what is decided.
