After contacting a few of you guys. I thought I'd make it easy on myself and make a topic addressing my needs....

Is anyone making a mold that would hold an 8mm tube(such as the PSI 308Win Cartridge Pen tubes) for casting bugs and such in PR??


I know there has to be others wondering/wanting this type of mold for casting. Or am I the only one?

I was wondering the same thing. I was going to try to make one myself. Why is the 8mm tube better for casting bugs????

I have made all of my molds out of one material or the other...

The ones i am really liking right now are silicone molds that I made using a round pen blank that was cast inside a PVC pipe. There should be a tutorial on How i make them in teh library, as well as several other tutorials on different molds.

I also have some square horizontal silicone molds that would work for embedding, allthough If the resinsaver molds come in 8mm, then that would be the ultimate option for you.

The 8mm tube size is just the one I'm needing for casting bugs and such for the click-type Cartridge Pens. It isn't necessarily the 'best' tube for casting all bugs(thinking a scorpion would be way too big for 'em-but I won't know until I try it).


Thanks Ron. Had thought about making my own, but I figured this route to be better for the quality aspect of it. But if no one is making one, guess I'll need to figure it out?
Although as many of us that make cartridge type pens, and actually they are my best sellers(would think a lot of people would fall in this category)...that someone would be making the resin saving type molds?

Maybe it falls into the resin saving type molds for slimlines?

You should have posted this about two days ago. I could have sent one to you with your black blanks......

Let me know if you don't get something from someone else. I may be able to help out. I made one for someone a while back and do believe I still have the negative.

I think he's talking about the fake cartridge pens.

That's probably true with your customers. Mine buy the heck out of the real cartridges for the simple reason that they are real cartridges, not fakes.
