We are stuck in the stone age with a old tv, and converter box for the radio shack antennae.
There's probably some of you in the same boat, and if it's like ours, it stinks on reception with the new digital signals.
The whole family is too old for Q-bo (sic) cartoons and
the girls are sick of Ghost whisperer reruns.. there seems to be little else
that wants to come in!!
I can't handle many more teen girl dvd's, the happy cheerleader, rock band things.. somebody knows exactly what I am talking about here..

While it suits me fine to limit the tv use to say..nil.. and then some, as I watch very little tv, my better half is not amused. (and is on my back).:frown:

I would like personal experience opinions on AT&T U-verse tv if you have it
or had it. My wife is considering a "bundle" as we already have the home phone and DSL internet with AT&T.
We are looking at the U200 channel package to be specific.

Like it, hate it, had better?? any gotchas to watch for??

Thanks in advance, I appreciate anyone taking time to reply.:)

We switch over to U-verse a while back from Optimum and it has been a lot better in every aspect of it. The TV doesn't have the delays, the internet is faster, and the phone works. The customer service is a lot nicer.

Check for availability in your area. We had an AT&T salesman come door-to-door through the neighborhood selling it, claiming the lines had been laid... when I double checked availabiliy, it wasn't even available in my little town! A con I tell ya!

I really wanted it too. I guess I will be looking at Dish or Direct.

I can't comment from personal experience, but my coworker has it and seems to have problems with it about every other month.

I had Dish and now Direct. They both were great.

I'm not familiar with any of the other suppliers already mentioned.

Wow, thanks for the speedy replies thus far!

Charles, I ran a check online and it says available.

I got a pm from a friend also, with some interesting info, Thanks my friend!

Maybe a Google search would have a site that has 'pros and cons' on the particular service?

My answer was to install a 10 mesh dish with horizon to horizon scan and that cost around $2500 installed. But then I could get anything and everything ... and I do mean anything. Being as you have teen girls I might reconsider this option, although my 88 year ole dad liked many of the "programs" out of Europe!

I have had it for 18 months. My Brother in Law and I wired both our house with Cat5 cable through the walls and add receptacles in every room and in our shops. Also ran the Cat5 from the Residential Gateway to the the telephone box outside. Have 4 receivers on the main one has the DVR. 2 sets can receive the HD signal and the other 2 the regular signal. Had a few problems but ATT worked the bugs and no problem for over a year. The Residential Gateway is the main box in the house ever thing connects to. TV, Internet, Telephone. Recorded both the Indy 500 and Coke 600 Sunday while we were driving back for Boise Idaho. Had almost 10 of HD coverage of both races to watch when we got home. Also you can program the DVR from a computer or you Cell phone or Iphone type devices while traveling.
We have U300 + the HD services and the Smithsonian Channel. No movie channels. More than enough. The also have interactive content you can access through the remote. We happy with the service. The gateway also is your warless INTERNET point, or you could plug your Laptop, Notebook or computer into any of the Cat5 receptacles and get on the INTERNET that way. Like it much better than Dish, Direct or Comcast. I have no complaints with mine. Some times the operator (me) screws up and causes problems but a quick reset and all well. Hope this helps

I switched after having direct tv for 12+ years and like it alot better, clearer picture,no pixeling or screen freezing and alot cheaper with the bundle,I haven't had any problems with it so far!Already had AT&T internet and phone so that didn't change.

have it, LOVE it!

I have the u200 package and I LOVE it! The internet is lightning fast, I have a nice wireless connection throughout the house and even have a good connection outside if I want to use the laptop on the patio. The DVR that can record and playback from any TV is really nice. Only problem I had was that the telephone is VOIP so I had to switch my alarm to a cellular connection but it was well worth it.

MY parents recently had the "package" installed. My mom spends most of her days since then on the phone with tech support trying to figure out why the phone makes a buzzing noise after about 1 min. of a call. They have changed out every piece of equip. in the house and still can't figure it out. They had 10 different tech's out and still can't figure it out.

Like UVerse

We've had U-Verse for about a year and enjoy it! We bought an HD TV awhile back and upgraded for another $10 per month. I'm a college football fan (Go Gators!), so I really enjoy the sports channels. My wife likes some of the HBO series that come on as well. Our internet is great...there are timew when my wife, my son and/or daughter, and myself are all using our laptops at once and we notice no problem with speed, etc. We also love the DVR feature and rarely watch shows as they are broadcast. We record and watch a little later so we can skip commercials.
Than's my opinion...

I am stuck in a bit of a no zone. There's no cables out here, but there is telephone. The cell phone works, but just barely and if you are using it and find a good spot you best not move or the call gets dropped. I use Dish Network for TV and have no issues. I never heard of the ATT deal. not sure I want all my eggs in the same basket anyhow.

Johnny,
I work for AT&T. If I can answer any questions for you send me a pm and I will give you my phone number. Even if you didnt want to go with U-Verse, AT&T can give you a bundle deal with Direct-Tv. I'd be glad to help you out.

I work for AT&T. So with the disclosure out of the way I have it and I like it. It has it's quirks as does cable and satellite, it is just what you get use to. They are constantly tweaking the system so features are added and sometimes I only learn of them when my kids tell me about them. When I compared the price of my former satellite bill plus DSL I came out ahead with U-Verse. Most people who have problems it is mostly due to the installation. Good inside cabling is a must. Connectors need to be terminated properly. Overall the product is good but YMMV.

You can also try Graboid or Hulu they are online Tv service Graboid also has movies and such I have never had the AT&T package

Hey Matt:
We have been AT & T customer for a thousand years. We wanted to use their "bundle" program here but Consolidated has a lock on the area. I wasn't aware that this practice was still allowed. Anyway, we are moving to Frazier Park. I know AT&T is servicing that area and wonder if they need to combine with Direct-TV to bundle; inter net, cell phone and television?

Have no idea. Have not had a TV in the home for 15+ years. And I have not been to a movie since Butch Cassidy and the sundance kid in 1973 Now in the last three years our family has read over 1200 books that's 4 people. three of the four are speed readers. I have spent 5+ years researching and writing a book. Just do not have time for TV
