We have arrived in Houston at MD Anderson safely. Things are really going fast. We registered, saw legal, social services, then the Doctor. She was very pleasant and positive, as well as lets get that thing out of there. She wants to do surgery on Wednesday if we can get everything else done in time. We still have to get labs done, anesthesia, dental specialist and a few other things done before then.

I didn't expect it to move this fast, but I am also glad that it will help with Kelly's pain.

We won't know the complete extent of the cancer until the surgery, they will remove a portion of the tongue and make sure they get all the cancer. Also they are going to remove the lymph nodes on that side of her neck and check them to make sure no cancer. If all goes well we are looking at some time next week at going home. :D

Thank you again for all the well wishes.

Thanks for the update. I'm happy that it is going fast and Kelly may have surgery in two days. Sending you my very best and thinking of you both often.

Good to hear things are moving well. We were in and out and back home in a little over a week as well.

Remember... you are her crutch through all this all she'll probably be looking at you for everything so keep a staunch positive outward attitude even when you feel differently inside.

We'll be thinking of you!

Thanks for the Update....we're glad it going as quickly as it is, you will not be alone in the waiting room.... we are all there with you.

Gordon send his thoughts as well, he was called away by NASA over the end of last week, I know he wanted to be there if you had questions...he sends his best.

You are in Great hands...

I'm glad to hear they are trying to get this done in a hurry. Keeping you two busy and having surgery asap can make all the difference in the world. Keep the faith and we are all there with you.

Tom and Kelly, we are glad to hear that all is going well and continue to pray for a quick recovery.
If you need anything I'm in the book.

Kelly and you will be in our thoughts and prayers . . . especially on Wednesday.

Tom . . I'm with George. When things get bad, like when you see her after the surgery . . . you're going to have to "cowboy up". You're the one that's going to have to be brave and suck it up when the going gets more difficult. Kelly's going to be looking at your face and into your eyes to see what's going on. You gotta be strong . . . for Kelly.
We love you guys.

Thanks Tom for the update. Both Kelly and yourself has been in my thoughts and prayers and will continue to be as long as needed.

This site was just emailed to me by a friend. She said it helped her when she was there with surgery.

Tom and Kelly, you may want to e-mail your friends about this site. They
can go here and send a "love note" (that's what they use to call them")to
Kelly, while she is in the hospital. She won't be there long, so they need
to do it right away. Then each day they deliver them to the patients. This
is to thru the volunteer services at MDA.

I wouldn't send anything until tomorrow, I won't tell her either so they will be a suprise.:D

Tom, do we need Kelly's Patient # for the cards, or is just her name enough to make sure she will get her cards?

I'll be thinking extra hard about you both at 7:15 Eastern time!!!

john that is your confirmation number I think. I am not sure how much information needed.

I just went to the site and it ask for birthday and patient number. I know they ask for the patient number when ever we do anything... Let's try with just her birthdate.

We just got back from dinner with Bud and Jill (the friends we are staying with) at Landry's. With the pain meds they put her on yesterday she was thrilled to eat dinner at Mannie's last night and overjoyed to have fresh fish tonight. She will not eat solid food for quite a few days now so...

I will post as soon as she gets out of surgery tomorrow. Possibly make a few phone calls too. LOL

Looks like the name is enough.

I also got a confirmation number when I sent one this afternoon. Please do let us know if she doesn't get our message.

God bless both of you Tom & Kelly. Our prayers are with y'all, hope all goes well. My wife works at St.Luke's Episcopal Hospital, she's a senior systems analyst (checking the problems with the computer programs with scanning patient wristband info, meds needed, etc, etc, etc.) She works in mid-town (closer to downtown) but I think she suppose to go to the hospital today which is just a block or so from MDAnderson. We also have a close friend that works for MDAnderson, if nothing else maybe she can help!!
Just thought my wife could drop off a little something for her. Please let us know how it goes!! I'm sure everything will be fine... those people there are the BEST IN THE WORLD!!!! just ask anyone!!!!
