My tax guy sent out letters letting us know that he will no longer be doing taxes. It's just the wife, 3 kids and I and are taxes are pretty basic. Was thinking about trying turbo tax this year to do our taxes. All the other tax people in our town seem to be full and are not accepting new clients. So if you have tried it let me know.

I use it. Tried Tax Cut one year and didn't like it at all. Turbo Tax is pretty easy to use. If you have state tax be sure to get the one that offers that. The cool thing is it remembers from one year to the next and that helps speed the process.

I've been using it the last 5+ years. As Chris mentioned, you only have to put in your personal information once and then import it every year. I have had no problems with it. If you don't have any tax complications to deal with (like own a business, estate tax, etc) then you can probably get by with the basic version.

Check out the IRS website. The have a program that links to the major tax prep companies that lets many people prepare and file there federal taxes online for free. Been using that ever since I left H&R Block.

Appreciate you pointing me to this, but it says I don't qualify to use the service.

Thanks everyone for your input on the turbo tax. Guess I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

I've been using it since 1997 and have been happy with it. In 2006 when I started my pen business I started using their Home & Business version and it seems to work great.

I've been using Turbo Tax since 1995 (I think) and it works better each year. I have regular wages, self employment income, 1099 income, K1 income, rental property income, office in home expense, equipment depreciation, rental prop depreciation, yatta yatta yatta and Turbo Tax handles it all. And this years info will be imported from last years return and the program knows what all I need to work on with all of the info already there. And what I spend for the program is decuctible:D

I am on my tenth year using it, and the only problem I have is with the state ones, because my regular job is in one state, and I live in another, and the program does not read between the states very well.
However, I also get a 1099 for contract work, and it takes it fine

I use taxslayer.com. I got the link from IRS site and have used it for years. It's $10 to e-file both fed and state and it saves your info from the previous year so it's pretty quick and easy. I do it on their site but it can be downloaded also.

You must be getting a refund. Those of us who must pay more wait until the last minute to file.:D:D:D

Well, I bought and used it. Actually was pretty user friendly. Worked out pretty good except now the damn state wants me to send them 300 bucks. Wasn't happy about that one. :(

Thanks for the help everyone.

It has been working great for me. I have used it for the last 7 years without any problems. I like the fast that it allows me to compare the numbers with the previous year.

My dad is an accountant and does taxes for AARP. He has us all still use Turbo Tax every year, let him proof read it and send it in.

I normally use Turbo Tax, but this year I used the Tax Cut from H&R block... because they sent me a free version. I've used them in the past, but decided I liked Turbo Tax better... now that I'm retired, doesn't make much difference.. it's form 1040A anyway.. Taxes are done and waiting for the refund.

We use Turbo Tax and our taxes are fairly complicated. Two different type businesses, kid in college, Linda's day job etc etc .. we keep going back to it every year.
