If you're in need of a DC, here's your chance to save your lungs. Wood mag has an add in it from HF. 2 hp DC on sale (coupon only) priced at $139. 110 off, think I'll pick one up tomorrow.

If you don't get the mag, you need it for the coupon. Also has a 20 percent off for one item. No hurry though. The coupon is good til 5/19/10.

Got one a couple of weeks ago . The accessary kit is $50.00 So far it works for me . Better than no collector at all , which is exactly what I've had .

Without better bags, you will actually be hurting your lungs more than if you did not have a DC at all since the DC will just be pumping the most dangerous dust all around your shop and keeping it more airborne. Remember, the really fine stuff is what will really hurt you.

Tim,

That will work! That is, unless you heat or cool your shop in any way. If you do, then you will also be sucking your energy costs out wtih the dust. I am sure you thought of that already, though.

I too live in the country but I heat and cool my shop. I have my cyclone outside the conditioned area for noise reasons but I return the cleaned air back to my shop via a plennum so I don't waste the HVAC.

I don't need a DC, but this is the one I use and it works quite well... I've had my hand sucked into the intake port if I get to close when doing pens.. actually it usually jerks the intake port over my hand as it's not quite strong enough to suck my arm into it, but I bet is surprise that red wasp last summer that flew across the mouth of the port and was sucked in.

Like you're planning, I have mine in a closet/shed built onto the end of my shop, I've run the main intake hose through the wall... cuts down on noise and any dust that gets recycled back into the air through the bags... Curtis is right about the bags... the original bags are pretty coarse and allow quite a bit of dust to blow back. I just yesterday put a 1 micron bag on mine on the top and I've always used a plastic contractor's bag inside the lower bag.
