I saw DSALLE's posting about engraving his initials in his pens and I liked what he did with his initials and have seen others do this. I am not that creative but can anyone come up with a design for the initials JT???

Hey John... here is a quick work-up of something that might work for ya... I noticed your screen name is JT the Clockman...

Well, how about this.. it has the J, has the T and is blended together to kinda look like a clock! The bottom of the J is the Pentium, the T is the top of the clock and the blending in the middle looks kinda like clock gears...

I have others but this one kinda struck me... no pun intended... LOL

You are very very creative. I like it, but you piqued my curiosity what others do you have. You will probably make my decision very tough. I like the idea you have that is why I threw it out there. It is like your own personal mark which you can include on business cards and all kinds of things without having to write your whole name. COOL!!

1 and 4 are intriguing. #3 would be easy to write. #2 is out. What else you got??? Maybe we should do this as a PM instead of the site unless others want to see too.. You are good.

Yea, I didn't care much for 2 either but threw it out there anyway... :rolleyes:

I've actually got a few other people wanting me to help with the same thing since we started this... :eek: ... The wife said I needed to start charging a "creators" fee.. LOL (She was kidding of course)

I think we might need to switch to PMing to keep the threads clear... don't think everyone wants to keep seeing these posts pop up in "new posts" LOL... I will see what else I can work up and get back to you by PM my friend...

Dave if you stripped the bold JT away on the #4 what is behind it??

Ha.. that MIGHT be a good thing! Would never be able to get in the shop to turn pens though if I did that all the time.... :frown:

On #4, if you take away the bold JT, there is a JT behind it in another font... have to look to remember which one... :redface: .. I think it was a basic cursive JT, nothing special... but when I added the bold over it it kinda added some character to it.... I'm not really doing anything tomorrow so I'll work on it some more and see what flows out...

I vote for #3. It looks a lot like something I have wanted to do on my pens for a long time now. mine is just the letter Y though.

Are you using software to create these? Or are you one of those lucky people that have artistic creative ability?

My wife says I'm a "creator" by nature, I love to design and create things. You ought to see my designs (to-do) book! So basically what I'm doing is taking the initials and... ooops ... almost gave away my secret... :smile-big:




Ok, Ok.... I'll tell ya... LOL

Seriously, I take the initials they want and study them in various font types. I then take these font types and see how I can mesh the initials together to make them look interesting and unique! When something comes together, it just pops! At times I do have to "modify" the fonts in a way to "make" them work.... like if it just isn't coming together like I want, I may have to add a little something to it or take something away from it for it to "pop" Ih and the program I use for doing this in Photoshop SC

Kinda like that one I did for jttheclockman (JT) , the one that "looks" like a clock sorta... it just came together....

Oh and John, I ain't forgot about ya my friend, I'm still tossing a few others around for you!

Thanks Chris, Yea, I talked to Jeff and he said I should charge too and he also was impressed with what I showed him and recommended putting the message in my signature.. . I really like doing this, it's working my brain for sure... so far 8 requests... I filled 5 today and finishing up on number 6 miner modifications now... been at this since 8am this morning and only took 1 eating break! Time for another I do believe.. LOL

Anyway, thanks for the comments Chis... well appreciated!

OK it is time to chose and i will call on my friends here to help me chose a suitable one. Is it possible for you to put all in the same posting so people would be able to view all at once??? You have these 16 and 4 from the other post. You made the choices harder the more I saw. You have a gift there sir. I have 2 with a possibility of 3 that hit me. Hoping others will help. Thanks.

LOL... sorry about that... didn't mean to overwhelm you with choices. I just wanted to make sure you had a variety to choose from... :biggrin:

I have updated the posts to have ALL images on page 2 with the latest group... Now if you want, I can provide you with the links to the images and you can post a "new" thread asking for advise on choosing OR we can leave them here.... however you want to do it is fine....

John,

You share name (including middle initial!) With my brother and nephew. If I had a choice I be choose for them (since I don't know you well)....

I would choose 17 first, the 1 next. I think the scripts in those look nice, yet the J.T. is still pretty obvious. I would think that recognition of the letters would go along way.
 
Well I finally made a choice and the winner is #17. I think it has a bit of style and yet is writeable. I plan on making that my avatar.

I would like to thank those that played along and most of all like to thank Dave for posting these and doing the work.

Dave, is there away to isolate this one and maybe just make it abit bolder so I can copy it??? Thanks again for the work.

Hey John... cool beans my friend! I'll send that to you by email and it will be a 1200x1200 image so you can resize to your liking. (just when you resize, do not save the original at the new size, use a different file name when saving! If you resize small then try to resize THAT file bigger, it will be pixelated.... ) It will also be white background and black text unless you would prefer a different color scheme?

What shade of blue? like the borders here on IAP (the darker blue under the quick reply text)? or darker or ligher?
