My better half has decided, well, I suggested she should take up some kinda hobby for when the Winter starts to creep in. I said before she should take up Jewellery Making because she has more patience than I have and she has an eye for detail.
She has been sourcing all the odds and ends she needs and came across Fire Mountain Gems. The trouble is the postage is unbelievable. I think its the handling charge they apply and they use Fedex to ship. The shipping alone is around $30+ and that could be for a small flat rate box that you guys use and it wouldn't even be full. It could contain a small pack of beads and the charge is the same.
I was wondering if anyone could help me in getting what she needs without having to pay the ridiculous postage.

Sorry can't help you.
But have you tried calling the company and discussing it with them? There may be a glitch in the shipping calculations or they may give you a better rate ordering over the phone.

found this on their website

That's right -- no matter how BIG or how small your package is… you pay only 5 BUCKS for shipping. It's that simple --

* no weight limit
* no minimum order
* no maximum order
* no kiddin!

The new 5 BUCKS for FedEx Ground program is a single, flat rate for shipping without a long list of rules and regulations. It's the same, trusted shipping method you've come to rely on, for only $5.00.

FedEx Ground arrives between 1 to 9 business days, depending on your location, excluding holidays. Delivers Monday through Saturday depending on your location. The 5 BUCKS for FedEx program is available to the 48 contiguous United States (excluding Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico). Please note: a $2.65 handling fee is applied to all shipping methods to ensure timely processing of each order.

Yeah must see if theres a mix up. We're from Ireland. I've gotten loads of stuff from members here but heavier than what my girlfriend would be getting and the postage was very reasonable.

I wish you had asked last week. One of my associates is there on business right now. I know his days are scheduled full but he did have some down time on Saturday. He flies out on Tuesday.

I am about 15 minutes from there, my wife has done alot of business with them, maybe you can shoot me a PM and we can work something out to save on the shipping.

Thanks everyone, i meant to ask ages ago. I knew some of you would have a better half like mine who is into Jewellery Making. She is only starting, some of her stuff looks good, I'll post a few pics.
