I given this site from a freind but he never did business with them. It has IAP symbol on it. So does anyone here have any knowledge of this site. They based in China but you know of all the bad news that is coming out about their products I'm a little leary of doing any business with them but the prices on pen kits are worth a look into. So I just figured that I'd ask being that I say your logo on here. Thanks

A number of IAP members have received emails from this company. They are legit, but being a Chinese manufacturer of pen kits, their minimum order is either very high (1000+) or the shipping for a small quantity of a single style and plating is just as bad.

Stick with the suppliers here like woodturningz and woodnwhimsises. You get the same product at a fair price and support IAP members.

Just my 2 cents.

The e-mail they sent me did not have min. quantity requirements like that. Another member bought some and sent a Cigar kit to me. The parts did not match the bushings I had from another source, the pen turned out to be a bummer as a result. The mechanism was heavily coated with sticky stuff and doesn't work well. Otherwise, it looks like the regular Cigar. With right bushings, some might have better luck.
I believe the sales rep. that sends those e-mails joined IAP under an assumed, American sounding, name.

They seem to have a whole lot of choices, including some plating options I haven't seen elsewhere...

Be interesting to see what the prices are...shipping's not TOO much of a concern, as I spend a ton shipping from the US anyway. If anyone finds out some prices, maybe they could post here?

Thanks I did contact the company and they also do retailed sales. I just wanted to see if they were ligit. Here is what they told me for 50 slim line kits it is .83 each and the shipping is 27.70. That is what they emailed for a quote.

Thanks Joe this really was a help. And yes I think I'll stick with woodturningz. Thanks for the other site I did check it out yesterday. Figured the same thing shipping was a killer anyway.

Hi,

Wood n wimshies carries the same slim models (as a matter of fact, their kit name start with RZ too so probably comes from there.) And you can mix and match inside a same model for quantity discount. Same with Woodturningz, at $1.70 for slimline. Wood pen pro has some really low price too on slimline. Even CSUSA start to carry a slim at $1.80. With this kind of price from our upplier that has always supported us, I will never give my money to someone that use the IPA logo without permisson, just to same a few cent per kit.

Just my 2 cents

Jim, Just exactly where do you buy your pen kits from then, if not from China or the far east? I visited your website and all I can see for sale are pens that are made from the same ole "poorly made kits" whose "plating is crap", just like the rest of us use!

Aren't you being a bit hypocrytical to make the comment you did, post the video link showing the "child slavery" conditions then go on your merry way using the vary items you are knocking?

I don't get it, you're either in the boat or you're out!

Those were the first pens I made nearly 5 years ago on my front page. When I order kits now I ask where there made and if I have a choice I'll but the better ones from Taiwan. There is two other threads going now about the same thing. The quality of kits from china.
If they make a million and ten thousand are bad, no big deal they sold a million.
I bought a torch to fire my PMC clay, the store said it would do the job. One was $20 the other was $50 so I got the $20 one. Well tried to use it and it did not work well enough to use and you know where it came from, china. There is very little quality control in china. Has everyone seen this on Current tv?

I'm still sort of a newbie in woodworking but I have to tell you, I would rather pay a little extra $ and buy from trusted suppliers that sell quality kits. I like supporting the guys over here, JMHO [:)]

I have a friend from highschool(long time ago) in China. He has a manufacturing/export business over there. While he has told me several things 2 come to mind. Quality control is a matter of how many more cents you want to pay for your widget... Many, many, many things "made" in Tiawan are "made" in China, example: Kim's factory in Tiawan has an order but no capacity, he calls "Uncle So" on the mainland and sends him manufacturing the details, the order gets marked made in Tiawan...

... I would rather pay a little extra $ and buy from trusted suppliers that sell quality kits...

This statement brings up an interesting question -- actually, a whole range of interesting questions, but I'll keep it short as I don't want to type that much:

IF I buy 10,000 kits from Rizheng and resell them to US pen crafters is the quality of the kit I'm selling any different than that which Rizheng is selling?

Many of our "trusted suppliers that sell quality kits" are reselling these exact kits.
We're paying more because they carry the inventory and risks. The value they add to the kit is their good name and local service -- but, they don't make the kit itself a better kit per se.

Oh sorry, to the original poster, Glenmore:

CSUSA has their exclusive manufacturer (Dayacom) and so does Berea (G. E. Products). Any other manufacturer, and there are several, pretty much sells the styles that PSI carries. That's it for pen kits! No one else makes kits that we can point to and say "that's the best kit/plating on the planet!". Sad.... but true!

The only way we are going to see higher quality kits (we're talking plating and fit here) is to demand it from those who do the importing... CSUSA, BEREA and PSI. They are the only ones currently in position to effect this change. And if this change were to happen, we'll be paying more for the kits! I have no idea where the balance is.:(]
