... and want to tell me what you think of your purchase? I have two day before my coupons expire and the Internet is sparse on reviews of an unbiased nature.

Any first hand experiences would be appreciated....

I used my coupon at Radio Shack, as well did my parents. I'm happy with the converter we got. We don't have an outside antenna or one in the attic so we bought the amplified rabbit ear antenna from Radio Shack. I plan to get an attic antenna becuase we have a hard time getting good reception sometimes with the rabbit ears. That's my biggest complaint. When we use the microwave or when a cell phone rings it knocks out the signal, kind of a pain. Microwave is just on the other side of the wall the TV is on. I believe the brand is the Digital Stream model, cost around 60.00 before the coupon. I have no complaints about the converter, actually life is better. We've got more channels and more information about what is on. I believe the attic antenna will cure a lot of the reception probs, my dad doesn't have any problems, but he has an attic antenna.

I can't help any, where we live an antenna doesn't work (we live way out in the country and near the mountains) so we have a satelite dish... if it rains or we have a little weather sometimes lose the signal, but won't need the converter.

We bought ours a few months ago. They are Magnavox and we bought them at Wal-Mart. They were $50 each so only $10 each after the government coupon. It gives us a much better picture and it added several stations including a weather channel, 3 more WXXI channels and I think a second NBC channel. One TV has a set of rabbit ears we paid about $30 for many years ago. The other TV has a single antenna that came with the TV. Reception seems to be the same on both. Occassionally it will lose the signal but that is just for a second or so and comes right back. If it keeps doing it we just move the antenna and the problem is fixed. You will need to use 2 remotes for your TV. The box remote to change channels and the TV remote for volume.

Bottom line is more channels and much better picture. Definately worth the $10/each we spent (or $20 each if that's what you can find in your area).

I got a couple of Magnavox converters at Walmart. They do alright. If I understand it correctly each device that has an analog tuner needs its own converter box. Each TV or VCR. Great, even more remote controls.
