I have about 50 of these flat spring clips to go in the sewing seam ripper kits that I got from penkit Mall. I'm having a heck of a time getting them around and in the tubes without bending them, the best I've had is to wrap them around a 7 mm tube to get the shape but when I get them in the 8 mm seem ripper tube they really scratch the seam ripper stainless steel insert when inserting them.

Left ones in Photo are the last three that came from Penn State industries that come round. The flat ones are the ones from China that I'm having a hard time with.

I use an appropriate size transfer punch and get it as far as I can. After I get it close, usually the seam ripper itself will push it the rest of the way.

Had the same problem quite a few years ago. Here's what I think.

1. Drop pen kits mall. In my opinion they sell crap. In all categories

2. Buy your parts through PSI. Never had any problems with them. But I've had problems with non PSI parts. Just call customer service, they can help you.

3. Use the blunt end of the ripper. Wrap the retainer around the blunt in, slowly push it in, stop when you hit the open part of retainer and use a fingernail to, gently, form the retainer and then slowly use the ripper end to push the retainer in. I've sold hundreds of these using this process and never had a problem.

4. Contact me with any other questions, like I said, I've literally sold hundreds of the double seam rippers, PSI style, without any problems.
