You can check the memebers map to see if their is anyone close by

I see several NJ members listed on the map.

Liz,

Check the members map and see if you can contact the members nearest you.

http://www.penturners.org/forum/membermap.asp warning...it loads a bit slow [;)]

Hi Liz, NJ here..... I live in Beachwood, but I am hardly a mentor. [:)] Believe me when I tell you, you will learn more from the good people in this forum than any book you can find. Good luck with your turning and hopefully you will find someone close by to help you.

Liz,
I'm up in South Jersey a few times a year to visit family. I don't know that I can offer you more than you'll learn from actively participating in this site, but I'd be glad to get together with you next time I'm up there. Even if we can't do a hands-on session at a lathe, we can do a "show and tell" and pick each other's brains about techniques.

<br />Bye the way, Dario, you well 11 seconds late with your post, good try though [:D]

LOL...wasn't racing anyone..as long as the right info is shared.

I did go through the map though and checked if there are other members at NJ before I post it [;)][:D]...and as I said, initial load is very slow.

I checked the site, seems there are only a couple in NJ and of course none are right next door. I am a member of AAW and the local NJ wood turners, but they mostly make bowls and hollow vessels...

I would certainly be up for some visitors to my crammed shop for some wood turning/pen making tips anytime. Just give me a little advance notice so I can be sure to be free.

Thanks for the info. I did post some pictures of some things I made in AAW-

I am in south jersey near philadephia in berlin.I have a full wood working shop and 2 small lathes. I have been turning pens for 3.5 years now and i am always willing to give tips. I am about 1 hour from you, if you ever want to stop by and turn you are welcome. I also have about 3000 exotic wood pen blanks at any given time (I sell them on ebay). You can contact me at mhuss1@comcast.net

Holy Smokes, Liz! You got an offer from Gadget AND Rudy? Have you seen Rudy's album???? And, Gadget ... it never occurred to me that those are your blanks in ebay. I've been buying from non-IAP ebayers. Now I know!
