It's finally time to bite the bullet and look for another vehicle. Our minivan is getting to the point that I just don't trust it to get the wife and kids everywhere reliably. I am looking in the used market (aprox. 2-3 yrs old). I have been looking at the Sienna (in spite of Toyota's recent woes), but it's hard to ignore the several-thousand-dollar price difference between the Sienna and the Sedona. Most of what I find online speaks well of the Sedona, but I was wondering if anyone here owns one and would have any input.

Thanks!

I just asked a car guy friend of mine about this. He says that Kia's quality is, well... you get what you pay for. But they have made a huge step up in quality over the past couple years. 09 on. So I guess that doesn't really help you, but that's all I know.

The Sedona is just a rounded off version of the LaBaron, right??????

Okay, I had to. Sorry.

We were looking at minivans also at one point. But I decided against them when I saw that the only ones with AWD available now are the Toyotas. I've always felt that you pay too much of a premium for the name on them and Honda.

My sister has had both an Odyssey and a Sienna (actually may have been the one before the Sienna name, I forget), and she had problems with both.

FWI, The new VW minivan is a rebadged Chrysler.

Take a look at the Hyundai line up. We have an 09 Sante Fe all wheel drive and last week added an Elantra Touring front wheel drive to the garage. The Sante Fe is built in Alabama the Elantra in S Korea. Real happy with the brand.

I own a Sedona mini van that is used almost exclusively for shows, its a 2007, I've had no problems, drive it 600-800 miles to certain shows. The only draw back is mileage. It gets less than stellar mileage approx. 20 MPG highway 16 city.

I can't speak to the Sienna but I can speak to the Sportage. We did a lot of work reviewing the safety of cars before buying my daughter a newer version of the Sportage. It had great safety marks and appeared to be made well. (I can't say that about the previous version) Anyway, she was driving with her Mom, Grandma and Aunt when they were broadsided by a fully loaded dump truck.(Dump trucks fault) They flip 2 and 1/2 times and all of them lived. In fact three of them made her graduation the next day. The fourth was up and around later. The car definitely was a good purchase at that point for us. My daughter is much more concerned with crash test results then looks.

That's our experience with Kia. Good Luck!

By the way we replaced it with another Sportage.

That's the same mileage I get in my 06 Chevy Suburban.

I owned one for several years. Great vehicle, never had any trouble out of it, but the gas mileage sucked. Less than 15 mpg

Thats what I mean!!! Not good at all for a mini Van, but as I said no problems and rated #1 for crash test....

We bought a 2007 Kia Sedona and a 2007 Kia Spectra brand new. We have had zero problems with either vehicle since we bought them.

We traveled from Groton, CT to Richland, WA in the Sedona. Was me, wife, 3 kids and a cat. Trip went well, no one complained about seats, etc.

I have one complaint about the spectra but nothing on the sedona. And I haven't gotten any complaints from SWMBO say she wants a new van because this one is.. etc.

So I would have to say they are pretty good based on our experiences. Your mileage may vary.

Forgot to add, the trip across country was also pulling a small trailer. It handled fine the entire way.

I was thinking of a kia car myself, it now has a 7year warranty with it, price's are good, do you get the same warranty over at your side of the water.so the kia is top of the list for now , no other car come's near the warranty. good cars as well.

I have a 2000 Ford Windstar that I traded a full size van in on. Did it to get mileage, it gets the same in town, and a tad better on the hiway. About 13 in town and maybe 20 on the road if the trip is all down hill on the road. Infact we just returned from a trip to Shreveport and got about 19 and a half. That was with three adults, 3 kids and bags. Oh well, the wife likes it better than the tank we had, so...

I've never owned a KIA, like the looks of the Sedona, and I'm still driving a 14 year old Toyota Avalon and a 19 year old Ford Ranger...

when I first went to work at Santini in Houston, our sales manager drove a KIA sedan, he drove like a maniac at best... his car was a personal vehicle that he used for work and said it was one of the best cars he had ever owned... his words..

My wife has a 2006 Kia Sorento 4 wheel drive, we bought it new to pull our double horse box to showjumping competitions and she loves it. I cannot remember the engine size (may be 2000cc) but it is a turbo diesel and she gets quite good mpg, would be better if her right foot was not as heavy.

We are looking to change her Kia soon and she is determined to get another Kia.

My wife drives a 2005 Sedona and loves it. We've never had a bit of trouble with it and get about 23 mpg.
I bought a 2008 Rondo as my retirement car with the 10 yr 100,000 mile warranty. I get about the same mileage but have a lot of weight in the back from ammo and wood.
The only thing I don't like about the Sedona is I find it lacking in head room.

Is the Kia Sedona and the Lincoln Navigator the same vehicles except the Navigator has better plating?

Sorry, I just had to do it.
