I have an older Sears 3 gal pressure pot. It's heavy guage steel and has a working pressure of 60 p.s.i. Will this be adequate for pressure and vacume casting?

Fill it up with water (all the way to the top) and test it that way. Water can not be compressed so if it blows up there will be nothing flying around your shop. Good luck!!!

Test it very, very carefully. Take it up slowly, but never max it out. The seal is important, as well as the pressure relief valve and the closing screws. Good luck.

Condition the seal, fill it with water, and pump it up to forty or fifty pounds. As Pedro explained, if it fails during this test, there will not be any danger because there will be very little compressed air in the pot. If it passes the test, you are good to go, just don't pump more pressure into the pot than you have tested it for.

Frankly, it would probably be a good idea for all of us to do this test occasionally...
