There are two ways to pay through PayPal, credit card and direct transfer from a bank account(cash). I don't know if the fees are different, but there is always a fee. My guess is that the fee for direct transfer is less since the credit card companies charge a fee.

I believe that is the case. I know when I use a credit card through paypal it always tries to convince me to use the bank account instead.

PayPal is free to those with non-business accounts. You can event receive funds in one of the free PayPal accounts, as long as it is ONLY a "cash" transfer (i.e. directly from the payor's bank account). If you want to accept credit card payments, you need a merchant/business account, and that's where you (the payee) start paying the dreaded PayPal fees. By accepting only cash payments, the seller/payee is able to avoid losing money to PayPal, while still availing themselves of the convenience of having a PayPal account.

<br />One note. Once you have the merchant account, you pay the fee for all incoming transactions...even for CASH.

True but I still believe it is a worthwhile service. PP allows the little guy the same ease of selling advantages as the big guys.

No argument from me Frank.

Just pointing it out since I had a few Group Buy participants who thought/insist that they are exempt from the charges if they send "cash" via Paypal.

That will work Paul...you just can't use same email and or bank accounts.

BTW, money on the regular account can only be withdrawn at a certain limit a month. It was $300.00 (or $500.00) last time I checked. You will need to look at this in case you need access to ALL of your money right away.

That can be waived or removed I done that already! With a Paypal debit card the limit is something like that per day.

I generally only take Paypal. I just eat the 2.9 percent plus 30 cents/transaction. It is an instant paper trail, which offers protection on both sides of the transaction, and also offers credibility to the seller. John Eaton

It tastes better if you bump the (posted)price of the pen by $5.

Or directly from a positive balance in the payor's PayPal account.
