I am Dave Owen and live on the southside of Indianapolis near Southport. I was on a renewal leave three years ago. One of my goals was to learn a new woodworking technique. I was at Rockler on a Saturday morning and watched Bill Betig aka wood butcher who taught me how to turn pens. Some 270 pens later I want to thank Bill for my latest "addiction" .He suggested I connect with the IAP website. So have been lurking around and gaining many good tips and hints. So, I thought I better sign in and start adding rather than consuming. I enjoy learning and making sawdust, sometimes i get to do both at the same time.

Yeah, welcome aboard Dave, glad you picked up something at the demo. See, what most folks don't know is that the CA that I use during a demo has an additive that causes a subtle but really deep desire to turn small pieces of material into something we're quite proud of. The fumes may "burn" a little when inhaled but that just assures that you've received the full potency of the secret additive, some call it "pencrack". There are more than a few on this great site, about 140 on the chapter email list so far, who have been dealt a dose at the Indy Rockler store. By the way, I'll be there again on April 6th from 10 till noon in case you feel the need for a booster.

Welcome to the forums from another Dave, who also has learned a lot from Bill, and also first met him at Rockler.

Finally, being from Lebanon, I'm about as far north of Indy s you are south of it!
