Just checking in to wish all you guys a wonderful day. We have been very busy here in southern Ca., babies, graduations, parties etc. etc. We've also been making trips to Big Bear (3hr drive) building a fence around our house and property which is for sale.

Too hot to turn here now but anxious to get started again in the fall. Some of you will remember I had back surgery last Aug. and haven't been able to turn since. I sure hope it's like riding a bicycle:biggrin:.

You Guys have a safe and HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!!!!!!

Hi Becca,
Thanks for the happy Fathers Day Wishes, and don't worry, I think turning is one of those things that are like riding a bike.
How are you feeling from you surgery? Everything go ok?

Everything is good Brian, thanks for asking. I will have to be aware of my back while doing things the rest of my life but no more pain and that's a good thing. I have a titanium plate in my neck and lower back plus carpal tunnel surg. among others. I think I will live long enough to become somewhat of a bionic woman:eek::biggrin::wink:

Becca, I can relate to the HFD. it's brutal here in west Ten uh see, my front porch is well shaded and it's 99 degrees with around 35-40% humidity heat index around 108-110 Not conducive to turning. Hope you get back to turning, at least it should be cooler in Big Bear. I guess you get some humidity from the Salton Sea too, I lived in Indio for a short while that was enough for me.

LOL, HFD (Happy Father's Day)

Yes, the heat is bad but actually we have had a mild summer (for us anyway). Only about 100 today and that's cool this time of year!!!!!

Well that isn't quite what I meant but it'll do, Yup 100 there isn't bad for this time of year there, but just think Today is also the first real day of summer, I think some one needs to rethink that one, we've been under daylight to dusk heat advisories for the past two weeks, and nothing but rain before that.

Yes, it's nice to hear from you Becca! I'm glad the back is treating you better now. My Wife had a four-level fusion in her neck three weeks ago today, so I have a lot of empathy for those who have had back surgery!

Thanks for the HFD! I replaced one toilet and did major repairs on another. But it worked the first time, didn't leak, and I didn't lose any blood in the process, so it was a GOOD THING! ;-) It was not nice weather here yesterday - high winds, heavy rain and hail. A little warmth might be nice!

Scott.

Only 100 in Brawley! Now I have to agree you are having a cool summer. Just wait til August! I was stationed in Yuma for 8 yrs. I can relate to the temp there too. Good luck with your healing. I had my 2 level fusion in Dec. and waiting for the third.

Castle Rock, Colorado. I love Big Bear and Arrowhead. I have been to Vail but alwasy thought Colorado was a nice place to live. How would you compare Castle Rock to Big Bear?

Castle rock reminds me a lot of Bear City, without the meth labs. I like the CO weather better, but I miss having the desert so close. And the beach.

Becca, you need come visit Reno. it has been really cool here so far this spring. We are getting tons of rain for us and the temps are not getting much above 70. or hot days have been the lower 80s. it has actually been nice weather to get out and work on the yard.
Nice to see you around.

Yeah, Aug is really bad!!!!!!!!!!! We're all waiting for 120+ weather, :frown:not!!!!

I feel for anyone having any type of back surg. As far as pain, it has probably been the worst to recover from. Altho I have to say, I think the older we get the longer it takes to recoup. so maybe that's what the problem was. I have a plate in my upper neck and plate and pins in my lower back, sure hope the rest of the spine last a long time. Good luck with yours!

Sure hope your taking good care of her, Scott!!!!!!!! Tell her, I feel her pain and hope she heals fast!!!!

I miss Big Bear. I lived in Bear City, Sugarloaf, and even a month in Big Bear itself. :(

When we were hunting for a place up there, we almost bought in Sugarloaf but were tipped off about the meth labs. That's why we decided to go into BBC. It's beautiful up there and we have gotten alot of use out of our house up there. LOML is about 5-7 years from retiring and we want to get some property in AZ. It's close to home and not as expensive to live as CA.

We lived in Hepseria, Victorville, Hesperia and the desert can be beautiful. We weren't to happy with the Santa Ana winds. I would love to own that cinnamon shop in Lake Arrowhead village. After all, they make pens out of Cinnamon wood, right?
