My foster father passed away early this morning. He was 77 years young. Three years ago he had a stroke that took most of the use of his left side. He kept a good outlook on life and kept doing the things he liked and was able to do. Then a few months ago he said he didn't feel well and went to the doctor. Tests found advanced cancer in his lungs, kidneys, and liver, all to advanced for treatment. Yesterday we all got together for his birthday. Almost all of the family was there. We all ate well and took him back into the house at about 5PM. He passed at about 6AM this morning. He taught me more about sharing and giving in the first year I knew him than had learned in the fifteen years before I met him. If God needed another angle he now has a great one. He will be missed by many many people.
Thanks, Mark

Sorry to hear that he died but glad you could be with him at the end. My dad died 25 years ago and I still miss him.

Bad news my friend; both of my parents passed 3 and then 4 year ago. It's not a good thing; time will help, but never fully heal. They truly live on in us.

My condolences on the death of your step father. Sounds like he was quite a father to you and that his presence in your life was enriching. May his memories give you solace when you need it and moments of joy and laughter when you are able and need them. May your family support and comfort each other.

Condolences to you and your family. Very sorry to hear this news. Sending prayers.

Sorry about your father, I have not had a parent pass on but I know that day will bring sadness. Keep your head up and remember the good times

My condolences. He must have been a good man for you to speak so highly of him. You were very fortunate to have had him in your life. My father died in 1981, I still think of him daily.

Mark,

So sorry for your loss. It is tough when our heroes have to leave us.

The great thing about heroes, they never truly leave us. They live on in the lessons they taught us and the legacy they made through our lives.

Praying for you.

There is nothing any of us can say that can ease the loss of a father, great friend and mentor. AT LEAST, he got to die at home. That where I want to be when my time comes.

My prayers will be with you and your family.

Mark,
I'm sorry for your loss. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Doug

The funeral was held today, over a hundred attended. The postman has made three special trips to the house as the small town does not have a regular post office. Each person or family has their own PO box. Several hundred letters and cards have come in.
Thank you all for your support and prayers.
Mark
