Okay - so to start with how this experiment started. I was rummaging through some boxes the other day and found a bin full of my old modeling stuff (cars, planes, etc). And of course in that was a bunch of the model enamels - 10 years old or better, but if shaken enough they would be pretty much normal again - so of course one thing led to another
I had cast 3 molds. The first was to be called "Golden Night Sky" - blue metallic mixed with gold. The second was to be called "Nucleo del Sol" (Core of the Sun). These two molds ended up being failures - not because of something I did, but something that the Resin from Michaels can't do with the enamel paint - HARDEN! I let it set up for 4 hours and then placed in my toaster oven at 125 for one hour. Like a rubber band (well okay, a tire). It is possible to turn, but I blew out both of the blue/gold ones so I am going to try the Core of the Sun one here in a little bit.
That being said - the third mold was made from the Resin I got from PSI - and I call the mold "Proud to be an American!". It is a standard gloss red and gloss white and a metallic blue. The mold came out hard and drilled like I expect acrylic to drill (not like drilling pine).
Beautiful results in my opinion - especially for my first successful mold out of over a quart of resin
I did include pictures of the other molds, but the primary attraction of course is the red/white/blue
