I guess I got the cart before the horse so to speak. I just found this site. I've been turning pens and what not for a little over 2 months now and I'm learning a lot from this site. I don't know how I even got started turning but it's really become addictive. I've already turned over 200 pens a couple of bowls and about a dozen wine stoppers. I just can't stop! Stuff just keeps coming in the mail
I've tuned all of the cartridge pens, 30cal. twist and click, Civil War, 50cal and Shotgun and already have some in a local gun store. I've sold many pens on another forum I frequent as well. Slimlines were my starting point and it's just grown from there. I tried my hand at the Nouveau Sceptre but I think it's a gawdy looking thing with red flame box elder burl I've watched just about every you tube video there is concerning pens and pen turning to the point where my eyes hurt.
It's turned into being an expensive hobby but I love it! I live out in the country and my wife and I occasionally go out looking for wood. You never know what you're going to find either. We've come across some beautiful spalted maple and elm, cherry, walnut and a few others. I don't think I've done too bad but after looking over this site there is obviously a lot I still don't know. Acrylics are nice but I prefer to work with the exotic woods and burls. As soon as I figure out how to post pics I will. Any how, thanks for letting me babble.
Is there any help for this addicition? :frown:
