GREAT NEW PHOTOS OF THE USS NEW YORK.

As you scroll down, notice the two twin towers on top.

Here SHE is, the USS New
York, made from the
World
Trade
Center !

USS
New York
It was built with 24 tons of
scrap steel from the
World
Trade
Center .

It is the fifth in a new class of warship -
designed for missions that include special
operations against terrorists. It will carry a
crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines
to be delivered ashore by helicopters and
assault craft.

Steel
from the
World
Trade
Center was melted
down in a foundry in
Amite , LA to
cast the ship's bow section When it was poured
into the molds on Sept 9, 2003, 'those big rough
steelworkers treated it with total reverence,'
recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there.
'It was a spiritual moment for everybody there.'
Junior Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that
when the trade center steel first arrived, he
touched it with his hand and the 'hair on my
neck stood up.' 'It had a big meaning to it for
all of us,' he said. 'They knocked us down. They
can't keep us down. We're going to be
back.'

The
ship's motto?
'Never Forget'

Please keep
this going so everyone can see what we are made
of in this country!

That is strange because they were displaying OK when I posted the message originally. I have to admit I was concerned they might give some trouble so I have a back-up plan. It will take a few minutes; so bear with me.

Well crap!!

I did fix it and it was working just fine. Maybe I messed up and did not hit the "send" button.......wouldn't be the first time.

So I'll try it for the third time.

Randy Smith, sharp-eyed Navy vet that he is, noticed the picture purported to be the USS New York at sea (fifth picture) was not, in fact, the New York; but rather the USS San Antonio (LPD-17) which was the first ship built in that particular ship class.

Just to be scrupulously accurate, I have added a sixth picture which really is of the USS New York (LPD-21) at sea.

Note: For those of you who are up on your Navy lore, you will know that current Navy standards call for only submarines to be named for states. Then New York Governor Pataki made a special request to the Navy for the naming of a surface ship involved in the fight against terrorism to be named after the state and his request was granted.

Happy Fourth Everyone, my prayers for all those out there today still defending our freedom. A thank you to all of you that have kept it in years past.
May all of you be blessed.
