Ran across this piece the other day: "Resin Casting and You", which is a chapter in a larger article on CNC machining and mold making largely from the perspective of making engineering prototypes.
There is a lot of information regarding what to look for in terms of material properties of mold making and casting materials with a strong emphasis on urethane casting as opposed to epoxy and PE resins. There are also a few tips and tricks.
The article also lists sources for dyes and pigments as well as silicone rubber and urethanes.
It's a little long, but I thought it well worth the time.
