G'day
I spent most of today making this pen for myself. It is stabilised amboyna with kirinite rioja finials, section and sleeves. Natural polish and a Jowo #6 medium nib.
This was a fun project, inspired by some of the kitless makers around the world.
Pics are a bit cruddy, was getting dark when I completed it.
Thanks for looking!

Thanks Mal
Because the timber is stabilised I opted to do partial sleeve for the barrel and full sleeve for the cap!

Nice, very nice. I'm starting the stabilized amboyna burl pen i mentioned last week. I only wish I had time to get a piece of the kirinite you used. That was a spectacular choice. Thanks for sharing info also.
Do a goodturn daily!
Don

Beautiful artistry Casey. I really like that you included several photos of the rough turned blank looking all dusty and unrefined... Then the beautiful finished pen. The ugly duckling transformed into the beautiful swan.

Except they're out of order, so the swan turns into an ugly duckling. Probably best that there weren't pictures of the blank, or the poor duck would have to crawl back into an egg.

I agree, though - the unfinished shot is a nice touch. Makes me wish I'd thought to take pictures of more of my pens before they came off the lathe.

Stop it Casey!!

You are getting way too far in front of me!!! Very envious!!

Excellent work, and the "in progress" photos are very much appreciated. That is the only time your work looks like mine!
