Here are but two of the amazing teapots from the AAW symposium exhibit.

The one with the lips made by Dixie Biggs sold for $9500! I prefer the exotic winged one by Binh Pho.

Those are awesome! Are these actually used as teapots? I know you obviously can't put one on the stove and heat water in it, but are they used to steep the tea in. I only ask because my wife is a tea drinker and I'd love to turn her a teapot someday...

The one by Dixie Biggs was sold to a teapot collector who owns a museum where his collection is on display. The same collector bought many of the teapots.

The money raised will go to the AAW Professional Outreach Program

From the AAW website

"The Professional Outreach Program addresses the needs of professionals within the woodturning field. These professionals include writers, collectors, teachers, demonstrators, and gallery owners or managers. The goals of POP are to improve services to the professional turner and to promote turned wood as a collectable art form. The heart of this program is a comprehensive database that allows communication with our professional members. Through these communications, information can be gathered and dispersed on a large range of exciting projects that will fulfill the goals stated above."
