I have 2 unopen gallons of this stuff and do not know what to do with it. Is there a shelf life on this stuff??? It is the original stuff not the new glossier stuff. I got caught up in the sales deal that the Alumilite guy was having here last year. :)

When I cast I strictly use the Silmar41 stuff because I have had great success with it.

Any suggestions as to what I can do with this?? What do you all use yours on??? I do not do any worthless wood blanks so that is out. I hate to use it on a clear cast and not be able to polish it to the high shine I get with the Silmar.

I could use it if your willing to sell or trade for it. Otherwise you can do colored blanks with it, dont think there will be much notice. There is a shelf life from what I understand, but Curtis or someone else would be better suited to answer on how long the shelf life is.

Have you tried a CA finish on it? Use the clear stuff for castings, and finish with CA? It works on acrylic as far as I can tell.

Do not like to to put CA over a good acrylic casting. To me makes no sense. Subject to chipping. There are some blanks you have no choice because of exposed different materials and you want a uniform look and feel.

Get a plastic bowl that will fit into your pot. Pour all your scrap pieces of wood into the bowl. Mix up a bunch of alumilite with some oil base paint and some pearl powder, pour it into the bowl, throw a sheet of wax paper over the top, pressurize to 70 lbs for at least 1 hr. Remove from pot, go to bandsaw and start cutting it just like you would a wood burl and you will have some pretty cool clock material in several sized rounds. You can make some desk clocks with matching pens.

I will sell them each for $100 which includes shipping which is about $18. Each set includes 1gal part "A" and 1gal part "B" They are the clear resin. Lists for $160 plus shipping.

I have 2 sets of these.

The things to note I am not sure of product reliability because they are a year old. They have been in a controlled area so no cold temps or hot temps. They are as liquid as when I got them. They have never been opened. If you want me to test them in some manner I will, just tell me what you want me to do.

I will ship them FedX. Now I do not know if cold weather has an effect. It is cold here. Do not know how much cold they will endure because of the facility shipping them.

I only offer this because like I said I do not use this product. If you are willing to take a chance then PM me. If I get no responses I will possibly do as Jeff suggested and use it up some how. Thanks for the replys.

If I had the spare money I would consider chancing it. After Jeff's suggestion I almost want to see you do that and check out your results!

The new CC resin expires much more quickly than that water clear. That stuff "expires" in 6 months, but really it lasts up to a couple years depending on storage.

I agree there. I believe this stuff is as good as the day I bought it. It has not seen any extreme conditions. Since no one wants it I will take your advice Jeff and throw something together and see how this stuff works. Never used it before. But how hard can it be. Piece of cake:party:
