For all of you who use Alumilite dye, what can I add to it to make it less goopy? I went to drop some dye in a droplet style bottle for ease and it was like curdled milk. I know Alumilite doesn't care for water based, but will paint thinner or somehting like it work? The temps down here have been quite high, but I didn't think it should affect the consistency. Of course I have been wrong before. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I asked this same question to the Alumilite help desk lady (specifically about the thick black dye). She replied to dillute with Part A of the alumilite mix.

Easy for her. I want a drop not a whole ounce of this stuff. That would be fine if the whole casting was to be black. I want the swirl. Plus when it comes out in one big booger, its kinda difficult to make the measurement.

Just grab a little bit of the black dye on a toothpick or something and mix that into the premixed resin. I use the black often and have found it to be pretty easy once you get used to it. You can also just add a little bit of part "A" into the dye container and mix it up with that, it won't harden or ruin the dye, it just thins it out a bit.

Perhaps you missunderstood me. The suggestion is to pour some Part A into the dye bottle and mix. The result will be thinned dye.

You can add some mineral spirits to the dye to make it thinner. Mike (VP at Alumilite) actually sent me some odorless mineral spirits for just this reason. Works great.
