Jason,

Revisit their website, click on "How To's" then scroll down to "Pressure Casting Clear" and followthe tutorial.

This is probably the best way to see the difference between using a pot and not.

The reason for the pot is to eliminate the bubbles or squeeze them so small you can't see them until the resin cures.

For the little money a pot cost, I would wholehearedly recommend one.

Jason, you can cast allumilite without a pressure pot BUT once you start putting "stuff" in with the allumilite the pressure helps the resine adhere better to the "stuff". Without pressure the blank may end up with voids and bubbles. Although it is possible to cast clear allumilite without a pressure pot IF you mix too fast you will likely end up with bubbles in the blank; the pressure helps reduce/eliminate the bubbles in clear Alumilite.

Do you need a pressure pot when creating blanks with alumilite? I was looking at their tutorials on their website and they dont seem to ever use one..

What is the reason for a pressure pot when blank making? To make sure there are no bubbles or voids?

Thanks Jason

You don't even need your pot to be anything fancy for alumilite. Just the pot and an automotive air guage will be good enough. Pull all the junk off the pot, strip it right down. Remove the tire filling piece off the hose on the air guage and screw the hose right into the lid. about $50-$60 for a pot, another $12 for the tire guage set up. It eliminates all the parts, which also eliminates leaks. The tire guage already has a hose fitting for a quick connect and a trigger to activate air flow. Squeeze and air fills tank..let go, air stops filling tank, and when you let go the guage tells you how much is in the pot.

Thanks Jeff :)

Looks like this will be one of the projects next spring :)

Close Tex - the pressure keeps the air in solution, just like a soda bottle; ain't enough pressure from an air compressor to squeeze much of anything.
