I used a few drops of this brand of paint with the Alumilite Crystal clear. It reacted like mentos dropped in a soda bottle.

Here is a pic

Black line is where it measured after I poured it into the mold.

process poured 2 oz A in to a cup scooped a little of the paint into it mixed well then poured 2 oz ob B and stirred well.

Started fizzing as soon as I poured

What paints work well for coloring this stuff. Is it just the Crystal clear or does the white react the same way?

This was not pressurized.
The pressurized on double in volume but not as wild as this.

It reacted that way because there is water in the paint , Alumilite dont like water at all . You have to use an oil based paint I think , to be safe you should use the Alumilite tints that they sell . I use powdered pigments from Coastal scents to color Alumilite and PR , never had a problem with it in either .

ahhh good to know.

Funny everything I have read about casting I don't recall seeing that mention. Does PR react the same way?

Thanks, Manny
PR isn't a fan of water either, but it doesn't get violent. It just will stay liquid.

Basically, alumilite and PR are like women. Some women go OFF when you do something wrong. Others just completely ignore you.

Heck if its hard enough to hold itself together, I'd try turning it. Some of the coolest looking things are discovered by accident.

It will be pretty spongy, most likely. I have experimented with doing it on purpose, hoping to re-cast it in a different color. It did not work very well since it was nearly impossible to get good penetration into all of the open pores, even at 100 psi.
