Many of us have had problems with it. I threw out about half of one mix and about
2/3rds of another batch. (2 gal batches!) Didn't seem to be weather related, I had
it in hot and cool weather. It doesn't happen when you first open the bottle, though.
It is after they have been open. Heating the Part B helps, but I can't get the gallon
jugs in the oven.
Be sure to call and talk to Mike or Carol and Alumilite. I have used a bunch of crystal clear and have not experienced this but I know a number of others have. I can't be of much more help other than to suggest calling them and asking for replacements.
I have had that happen to me, where the part B gets so thick that it entraps air, impossible to pour and when finally mixed with part A, solidifies to a milky white. Call Mike, he will tell you about trying to warm it, and if that doesn't work, they will replace the part B
Mine is thickening up like syrup too, but it doesn't taste like syrup! I bet if you just fill the sink with warm water and set the closed container in there it will warm it back up nice. Be sure and dry off all the water before you open it of course. I should try this..but I'm not having any problems with my pours, they all seem fine. If the B is cooler and more gelly, it allows more working time. I THINK it's ok.
Guys, don't forget, they still make Alumilite Clear. It does not polish up as easily as the new Crystal Clear but if you are doing Worthless Wodd or embeding anything in the resin, it is best to use a CA finish anyway which makes this a mute point.
That said, I have gone through 10 gallons of Crystal Clear and nearly 100 gallons of the regular Clear and have never had any gel on me even on stuff that has been on the shelf for many months. Then again, I am in Texas and we wear jackets when it gets below 65 degrees
