I had some jarah with a lot of holes in them so I thought it would be a good idea to try and fill the holes with dyed alumilite.

I put the blanks in some PVC tubes and added the Alumilite. Put that in my vacuum pot and turned it on for about 10 minutes.

Next time I will use pressure.

The blue actually turn down fine and the holes were filled. Had some trouble with the yellow one.

As you have found out...don't use vacuum with Alumilite! In order for vacuum to be effective to begin with, you need to pull a vacuum and then release it before the resin sets. With Alumilite there is not enough time to really do that. If you really must use that vacuum pump, use it to degass each part before mixing together. Then use only pressure. I do not use vacuum at all since I think it is just a waste of time with Alumilite.

Dale, good videos.

Curtis, back when I was a flight instructor I told my students that I could only teach them enough to, hopefully (and successfully), keep them from killing themselves. "You don't learn from what I teach you but from the mistakes you make."
