Just ending the second leg of our vacation and finally got reliable internet access so I thought I'd stop in and say hi. Tomorrow we leave for Maui and the last leg of our journey.

We are currently on Kauai and we took a helicopter tour today. I know where there is lots and lots of dead Koa tree's, Unfortunately they are so far into limited access places that it would be next to impossible to get to it.

Anyway, I just wanted to stop in and say Hi. Yes I will post a picture to prove I was here. It will be a tree at the Hawaii supreme court building that is covered in burl. I told the guard I was a "tree surgeon" and as a matter of public service I would trim off the burls that were harming the tree and dispose of it free of charge. He told me that if I touched his tree he would shoot me and then take me off to jail. :(

I am SO jealous! LOML & I honeymooned on Kauai nearly 20 years ago...I can still close my eyes and re-live the helicopter tour. I hope you got to fly into Blue Hole. It's not really the Mt. Waialeale Crater like the chopper pilots like to claim, but it probably ranks in the top 5 of the most beautiful places on earth. We said at the time that we wanted to spend our 20th anniversary in the islands, and we already have partial reservations for next Spring. We're planning on taking our kids to the Big Island, Oahu, and Maui. I just wish there was somehow we could spend a few days on Kauai, but it probably wouldn't be the same. I'll preserve those memories just the way they are. Oh well...at least I can look forward to meeting Chris on the Big Island! Let me know what "must-see/do" things you find on Maui!!!

I didn't know there were Penguins in Hawaii!

Look what I found today......

Glad you didn't touch that tree. We would hate to have to "visit" you there! [:D]

Have a good time. I would like to get back there. Been some years since I was there.

Thanks for sharing. I am sure glad you don't have a chainsaw with you...else you might get into a lot of trouble. [}:)]
