I had to try it. I casted an alumilite white blank with some blue acrylic paint (Testors) to see what would happen. Actually I was to impatient to wait for the Al. Dyes. Parts came out a bit on the gooey side so I carved them out and filled it in with some CA. I need to practice on the mixing/adding color/pouring coordination to get a more interesting color/figure. All the threads were true, finishing was a bit different than "standard" acrylic blanks. This material gives a subdued satin finish which I am not used to, so I used 5 or so coats of CA to fill any holes/whatever those were and then polish up. This stuf really threads, drills and turns nicely. I figured I would post this here as well, so that all of the casting experts can give their feedback. Thanks for looking.

can you confirm taht the Testers paint was acrylic. Acrylic paints are water based and i've read that Alumilite is allergic to water. Testers makes an oil based paint as well.

love the blue and white mix

Thanks. I know you're right on about the water vs. Alumilite. I believe that the Testors paint I used was oil based, It was a bugger cleaning up after the initial use (kids school project...AAARGH). I had to use the last of the Xylene just to get it off of the countertop.

Jeff,
All I did (and thats probably why it turned out the way it did), I measured out parts A and B, mixe well, and then added the color. Poured it in a tube and let it cure.

Have a friend that wants a couple pens in his family clan's colors (Douglas). Can't find anything on line so I'm toying with the idea of trying to make them myself but it's a little bit of investment, not to mention science experiment for two blanks. Any suggestions?
