Adventures with PR part III

First coffee bean blank. Seems to have turned rough OKay and polishes up nicely. set in a sort of milky-coffee coloured opaque PR.



This was a one-off, but I think I'll progress and knock up a batch.

Yes, actually: even better than a fresh brew. I can't decide wether this or tulip wood is my favourite smelling blank!!!

I decided the "bean density" was too high in that blank. I don't want it to look like its a pack of beans with the gaps filled with PR. I want it to look like a shiny PR pen with a few beans. Of course the beans want to float in the PR, so I poured a layer of PR (about 1/4" thick) and threw in a handful of beans. Waited for it to gel, then poured another layer and added another few beans. Repeat x3. Result:

The bottom layer looks to be a different colour. That's because it is. The first layer was clear - I figure that's going to get turned off anyway. I mixed up sufficient PR in one batch for the rest of the layers, so the colour would be consistent. I just catalysed it as I needed it.

As you can see, there are less beans per area, but still too many for me.

I have a bad feeling about those straight lines of beans. I'm concerned that they'll look a little too "engineered."

One consolation a lot less to consolidate with CA during the turning phase.
