Turning down is not an option, I have a police badge on the tube. They look great when it works out. I have extra tubes, I just want the badge so I can cast it again. Air bubbles got me on a couple.

I have a couple of casted blanks that have bubbles that I want to save, how long does it usually take to soak in acetone to take off the PR?
Thanks

If this means you have cast objects and you want to save the objects, you may want to consider overcoming the bubbles, as you turn, instead.

"Melting" the PR is likely to damage your "object" as well.

Question can be read many ways, so do what you wish---just another thought.

A day or two in acetone should do it. A real metal badge should be fine, but any color on the badge is at risk. If that's an issue you could try the following (as long as the PR isn't under the badge):

Put the blanks in the freezer. When they are frozen, take them out and quickly give them a smack with a hammer (wear safety gear), but not so much that you flatten it. That may shatter the PR and release the tube. It's risky, but if acetone is going to destroy the badge, it may be worth a try. As an alternative, you could put the frozen blank in a vice and crank down to see if you can crack off the PR. You have to work quick before the blank warms up.

I just noticed the post so hopefully you've figured it out by now. The way I salvage my castings is to turn the pr down as thin as I can without damaging whatevers embedded in it. Then I soak it in acetone and it normaly just takes a few hours. I'll take it out every so often and work it with my hands and it will crumble away. Sometimes I don't have to reglue the objects just recast.
