I am about to start in clear casting and would like a little guidance. I have read most of the articles I have seen and I remember seeing something about certain cups in the ultra sonic unit and heat. I can not find it.
The check list
Molds in the mail
Simlar 41 in the mail
ultra sonic in the barn
anxiously waiting to get started :smile-big:

I was exactly where you are 6 months ago...Now I am a casting machine!
I can tell you that like everything else that involves a lathe - It will get expensive! Lol
Not super expensive - it is a littler more subtle than other aspects of turning, the items are not a lot of money but there are a lot of them!
I am now into colors and using a pressure pot.
Actually the pressure pot was original to improve my clear casting.
You may also want to get a toaster oven to help with curing time?
If you want to talk about anything send me a PM and we can figure out the best way/time to get on the phone and talk about casting?
I would be happy to tell you all the things I did wrong! But that's the best way to learn right?
Good luck
Kevin

craft sticks
clear cups with a #1 recycle rating
toothpicks
rubber gloves

I wouldn't use #1 cups in the ultra sonic cleaner. My experience is they don't hold up to the heat and leave a mess in the most expensive part of your casting set up.

Family Dollar Stores has 64 9 oz recycle code #5 cups for $2. These cups wil hold up under 4-480 second cycles in the uscleaner.

Additionally, all rubbermaid products are code #5. The Breakstone cottage cheese and sour cream cups also work very well.

I was taking gloves craft sticks for granted and just got a respirator today because i was working with some east indian rosewood and got a nasal infection. turned out to be a expensive pen and bracelet with a Dr trip and antibiotics
