On the TV show Myth Busters they were trying to see how high they could get a typical grease fire to flame just by putting water on it. They started the fire in a typical kitchen setting with a medium pan. They added water using amounts of 4 to 8 ounces and got the fire to shoot as high as 35 feet. Imagine that in your kitchen. I think the smallest flame was about 20 feet high.
