I just wanted to tell everyone here about an experience I had re. Nolan....I have bought several burl blanks from him and have had some bad luck with the Rosewood....it is not 100% clear if it is operator error (which it most likely is) or the wood, or a combination of both. Anyway, Nolan has taken it upon himself to send me more blanks to replace the ones I had trouble with, plus some others....at no charge. I offered to pay and he says no. I have been a woodworker for 25 years, but have only turned for a year or so. I have always known that woodworkers are genuinely wonderful people, and I have been reassured once again with this experience with Nolan. If you haven't already, you need to give some of his wood a try....not only is it great, his service is excellent.

I've sold some wood here too...but would say that Nolan's service, price and wood selection is much better than mine. I won't hesitate to endorse him and admit that I am also a 110% satisfied customer.

I need to turn some so I can show/post his awesome blanks! [^]

I have bought from Nolan in the past and have nothing but good things to say about the experience. Great wood, great price, great guy.

I received some BEAUTIFUL blanks today from Nolan! Absolutely beautiful. I can't wait until I get back to Japan and get some time to work on them. It will probably be this fall before I use them because they are not the ones you use every day, but for special pens!

Thanks for the kind words, I just try to treat others like I would like to be treated[:D] When buying wood I want good stuff at a good price and know the person is willing to stand behind what he sells. BTW all the Rosewood burl I have sold has come from one 97 lb burl[:p] I have almost none left and more on the way. It got held up but thats ok as it will give me a chance to put two or three other burl types with the order. shoting for 1500 lbs.

So where does one get to see what's available, is there a website? I don't recall seeing anything in the advertisment forums. I'm not sure if I've ever used rosewood burl but lately amboyna burl has become my favorite. If the rosewood is anything like the amboyba, I'd like to try some.

Does anyone have some photos of rosewood burl, either blanks or a finished pen?

George
